Fixing the Meta Quest 3 Air Link “No Connection” issue

Approx. 1 min read

Quest 3 Air Link pairs and connects just fine the first time, but after disconnecting, it refuses to reconnect. The PC still shows up in Air Link, only with a “No Connection” label. This has been around for almost a year and somehow still isn't fixed… It clearly has something to do with the network. Here's the workaround I've found to be pretty reliable:

  1. Make sure transparent proxying is enabled on the router. Don't use a proxy running on the PC itself (important—this made a huge difference in my testing).
  2. Turn Air Link off on the Quest 3, then turn it back on.
  3. Connect to the PC through the pop-up prompt.

Note: If you enable transparent proxying only after the issue appears, restart the PC, make sure Meta Horizon Link is running, and then try again from the headset.

It might say the connection failed the first time. Just retry once—that usually does the trick.

Thanks to native support, Air Link streaming pretty much blows SteamVR's XR Runtime away. It's especially noticeable in games that support the Oculus VR Compositor: enable Oculus Mode in BSManager and the bitrate, latency, and stuttering all improve a lot compared with SteamVR.
